The Fun Yak 3.50 seems to be the main choice for every type of boater from work, fishing, weed cutting and still an ever popular hire boat.

We have just delivered three boats up to the Windermere visitor centre to complement their canoe hire fleet and looking at the location I can see them being very popular as the season progresses.

The 3.50 offers great value at still under £1,000 the features of this versatile boat are endless - here are a few; self draining, large carrying capacity (up to 6 people) built in launching wheels, lockers to bow and stern , swivel seat attachment available, virtually indestructible.

Welland Yacht Club join the Fun Yak 4.50 club

Having never been to Welland YC before I can only say how impressed I was with the warm welcome I received and what a nice location for the club the on side of the River Welland.

Jane and Martin met me there to take delivery of the club's new safety boat - a Fun Yak 4.50 complete with Tohatsu 30 hp outboard. They assure me there will be plenty of volenteers for rescue duty at the weekend!!

Docklands project now up and running

The docklands scout project has now got under way with the Fun Yak 4.50 and named the boat Jumbo (big and grey) - we have started a "testimonial" page on our online site where you can read the report and view pictures of it in action.

Another Fun Yak 4.50 goes down to London

The Docklands Scout project are the latest organisation to take advantage of the ever popular Fun Yak 4.50. Richard Hart and his team ventured North a couple of weeks ago to try out the boat. They were suitably impressed and ordered one there and then.

We delivered the boat early doors today (16 Aug) and with the help of some able bodies soon had the boat off the trailer and into the workshop ready for the perfectly matched 30 HP mariner outboard to be fitted.

Look out for more pictures in the next couple of weeks when the 4.50 will put through its paces.

New coaching boat for Richmond Canoe Club

Richmond Canoe club have just taken delivery of their new coaching / rescue boat. After viewing all of the boats at the London Boat show in January, the club decided to take us up on our offer of a demo in the Fun yak 4.50, and following an extensive test made the decision to go ahead with a grey 4.50 complete with a 25 HP Tohatsu which made a perfect combination.
As you can see from the photos, the 4.50 lends its self to sitting on a wet mooring especially when paired with the custom cover and auto bilge pump.

Our man at the Boat Show

Well here I am at the London Boat Show and despite the snow and TV weather warnings people have actually made it to the show. Friday and Saturday were particularly busy with Sunday being a family day, with plenty to keep the kids amused which seemed to make a nice change from playing in the snow.I have put a couple of pictures of our stand on the Blog so if you are thinking of coming to the show come and look us up on stand NO54B

Mike Dawson and Chris Martin have just completed rowing the Pacific from Choshi in Japan to San Francisco. All at Morton Boats would like to congratulate the pair of them for their outstanding achievment.

Morton Boats have taken on a new boat which will complement the Fun Yak range. The "Mallard 7" falls very neatly into the range between the Fun Yak 2.00 and the Helix. With a price of only £399.00 inc Vat the boat is very competitvly priced and as you can see from the video, has all the qualities we have come to expect from the Fun yak boats. Manufactured by E&K boats the Mallard 7 looks a great little boat for a tender or small work boat.

West Resin building project

You might find this a little different to the previous posts, but I think you might be interested in a current project we have got involved with.
Morton Boats have had a close working relationship with a local company called Cowley Timberwork for many years combining our GRP laminating skills with Cowley's unique woodwork design and construction skills. Our last large project was the laminating of a large structure for the London School of Economics. This was a pre-fabricated dome coated with 2 layers of glass fibre mat and finished with a coloured gel coat.

The current project is similar to previous, but this time they have used a West epoxy and Sigma 2 pack paint finish to the wooden structure. This is new ground for us and is proving quite a challenge, but the it's giving a far superior finish compared to the GRP process.
All of the work is being undertaken by the Cowley workforce with initial product training coming from David Johnson - the technical guy at Wessex Resins. We are proud to be part of the project being the supplier of Epoxy resin, paint and application tools and a little technical help as the job progresses. Fun Yak 3.50 weed cutter

In conjunction with Reedman Services, Morton Boats have found another great use for the versatile Fun Yak 3.50. This time as a weed cutting boat.

As you can see from the pictures the 3.50 has a built in moulding which will take the purpose made bracket on the cutter. This will give depth and cutting angle adjustment.

The forward locker is ideal for a 75ah leisure battery which will give up to 6 hours cutting time.

When you have finished cutting, simply take off the cutter and replace with the rake which will fit onto the cutter bracket.

If you think the 3.50 is too large, the 2.80 will take the same cutter and rake.

So if you need to remove weed from your lake, pond, or stretch of river, this is the solution to your problem.

Scunthorpe Sea Cadets get new rescue boat

With the aid of grants from Comic Relief and Sport Aid. Scunthorpe Sea Cadets took delivery of their new rescue boat - a brand new fully equipped Fun Yak 4.50.
This was the highest specified 4.50 we have supplied and what a fine boat it is.
With the addition of a Stainless steel gantry and navigation lights it has made the 4.50 into a "full on"sea boat.
We would like to wish all at the Scunthorpe unit the very best for the future and hope the new boat will give many years of enjoyment to the cadets and staff.

Secu 12 to the rescue

After a rather unfortunate incident at Ulley Sailing club where they had their previous rescue boat stolen by some thieves needing a boat to do a "job". Morton Boats were able to get them back on the water with a new rescue boat - the Secu 12.
I have just had an email from John at the club (see below).

Hi Peter and Paul, we got the secu 12 up and running and are very pleased with it's performance although we
have not had the opportunity to rescue anyone yet!

This is the third Secu 12 out of our yard within a week. Alan Oliver work boats has taken two.They will be used for small work boats, bringing his fleet of Secu 12s up to three.
He explained to me they are a very efficient an safe work boat ideal for safety cover and light work. He could not believe how quickly they would get onto the plane with a relatively small outboard.

Fun yak Corallines to Askern

The small spa town of Askern near Doncaster took delivery of their fourth Fun Yak Coralline today.These versatile little boats will soon be part of the "new look" Askern lake where they will be available to rent out by the hour for a leisurly row over the picturesque lake.

More boats go to London Fire and Rescue

Another Eight FRB 3.90s were delivered to the London Fire and Rescue with help from Imp Transport - our local transport company. It was a tight fit, but with a bit of careful stacking they were on their way by 9.00 o'clock.
The last eight boats are due to be delivered within the next week.

New boats for Cantref Adventure Farm

Cantref,located in the picturesque Brecon Beacons National Park, have just added a new attraction to their popular Adventure Farm and Riding Centre,.
Mr Colin Evans(owner)thought the Fun yak 3.50 would be the most suitable boat for the new water based attraction, and was keen to take delivery before the beginning of the 2009 season which will be in full swing by Easter.

The Fun Yak 3.50 if fast becoming an "Industry standard" boat for this kind of attraction as owners of boating lakes, fishing clubs and activity parks discover the versatility, strength and minimal maintenance of this ever popular model.

First boats for London Fire Brigade

The first four flood relief boats have been delivered to the London Fire Brigade.The FRB 390s are a result of months of collaboration between Morton Boats,TK Marine Associates and the Fire service. The boats may look like a standard Fun Yak 3.90 but have been modified to take up to 10 people, given extra strength ropes and handles for easy 6 man handling and high visibility stripes are added for night time recognition.
As seen from the photos one of the advantages of the 390 is the unique stacking system, it is thought they will be in stacks of three so as to aid quick deployment and alleviate storage problems.
A total of twenty boats have been ordered, the remaining sixteen will follow towards the end of March.

New rescue boat for Beaver Sailing Club

Beaver sailing club have just taken delivery of a new rescue boat in the form of a Fun Yak 4.50 complete with a 30 HP Tohatsu outboard motor and Rapide GP 16 trailer.
The package was delivered and handed over by Peter (pictured) and Paul Richards of Morton Boats but unfortunately it was not possible to try it out on the water as the whole lake was frozen over.
The new boat purchase came as a result of a demonstration of a similar 4.50 package towards the end of last year and after most committee members had the opportunity to take it out for a spin, decided this was the boat which would most suit their needs for both training and rescue purposes.
Morton Boats would like wish all at Beaver Sailing Club a most successful and prosperous season ahead.
